Open the Book

Under normal conditions, twice a term a team of people from St John’s don tunics and head scarves (or whatever other costume suits the story) and go into Saxmundham & Kelsale Primary Schools to present a story from the Bible, as part of their collective worship.  Whilst schools are closed due to the Covid-19 lockdown, the presentation is recorded and offered as an online resource.

Open the Book is a Bible Society initiative and this year it celebrates its 20th anniversary.  Using Bob Hartman’s Storyteller Bible, the team brings a Bible story to life using props, drama and interaction with the children.  As well as presenting the story in an imaginative way, the children are encouraged to apply it in their own lives and are invited to join the team in a short prayer.

Please pray for the team and if you would like to know more please speak to Doug Fletcher.
